Embrace opportunities in campus to achieve your dreams, BOUESTI VC tells new students

The Vice-Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), Professor Olufemi Adeoluwa, has advised newly admitted students to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the institution to achieve their dreams in life.

Adeoluwa noted that the university, since its creation, has made available the necessary opportunities for learning and student development. He urged the students to remain committed and dedicated to their academic pursuits.

The Vice-Chancellor spoke on Wednesday during the matriculation ceremony of 6,900 new students for the 2024/2025 academic session.

He encouraged the new entrants to familiarise themselves with the norms and fundamental principles that have projected the institution’s image as a centre for academic excellence and character development.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the students of the institution’s commitment to providing them with a platform and opportunities for growth, supported by sound teaching and learning processes.

According to him, “To our matriculating students, be reminded of the dreams and aspirations that brought you to this institution. Each of you has embarked on a unique journey, filled with challenges, triumphs, and countless hours of hard work. Today, you are not just students; you are the embodiment of hope, potential, and the future of our country.

“As you take this important step today, I urge you to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. Higher education is not merely about acquiring knowledge; it is about developing critical thinking, fostering innovation, and cultivating a sense of responsibility towards your community and the world at large.

“You will encounter diverse perspectives, engage in spirited debates, and forge lifelong friendships. I charge you to cherish these experiences, for they will shape your future. I also want to take a moment to acknowledge the invaluable support of your parents.

“Our institution has the vision to be an international university recognised for innovation and self-reliance, producing culturally sound and disciplined researchers and graduates committed to learning for gainful engagement and the proper education of the total person.

“Towards this end, the university runs well-structured academic programmes strategically designed to expose students to contemporary formal and informal training, as well as the acquisition of skills and knowledge in areas pertinent to their fields of study, giving them a competitive edge over their peers.”

Speaking on the recently held maiden convocation of the institution, Adeoluwa commended the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for his role in driving educational transformation across the state, which he said aligns with the shared prosperity agenda of the administration.

“The success of the convocation further underscored our commitment to excellence and the bright future that lies ahead for this institution. It was a proud moment for all of us, and it serves as a reminder of what we can achieve when we come together as a community.

“I also wish to extend our sincere gratitude to our Chancellor, Chief Wole Olanipekun, CFR, SAN, as well as the Governing Council of our university, led by a result-oriented Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Patrick Oladipo Aina, for their invaluable contributions and steadfast dedication. Their tireless efforts have been instrumental in driving our education revolution and infrastructural development,” he said.
