The traditional ruler of Isanlu-Isin in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Solomon Oloyede, has said that his elevation to first class status by the state government will speed up the physical and socio-economic development of the community.
Speaking at the thanksgiving and reception programme on his recent elevation in Isanlu-Isin, the traditional ruler also said that the area had witnessed peace and harmony since he assumed the new status.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the late traditional ruler of the community was elevated to second class status in 2005, while the recent elevation of Oba Oloyede to first class status was made by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Monday, July 1, 2016.
The event, which witnessed the presence of other traditional rulers within and outside the local government area, was marked with pomp and pageantry by indigenes of the town.
The traditional ruler, who said he was a prince before ascending the throne, described his elevation as the grace from God.
He also urged the people of the area to cooperate with the ruling APC government in the state by paying their tax as at when due to attract development.
Oba Oloyede said that it is through revenue generated by the government that social amenities and infrastructure like schools, health centres and tourism sites would be developed.
As part of his achievements as traditional ruler, the royal father said he had regularly maintained access roads from Isanlu-Isin to Omu-Aran, Oke-Onigbin and Owa-Kajola, adding that he had regularly graded the roads from his personal resources.
He also said that he single-handedly constructed a new palace at Oja-Isale in Isanlu, adding that he facilitated a Federal Government-built model primary healthcare centre to the community.
