The Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti South West local government area of Ekiti State, Oba Ajibade Alabi has said that citizens have the reasons to celebrate in view of the development witnessed across the length and breadth of the state in the last twenty-five years of creation.
Ekiti State alongside other states was created on October 1, 1996, by the military regime of late General Sani Abacha.
The prominent traditional ruler who spoke while addressing a group of youths in his palace on Friday in celebration of the state’s creation anniversary noted that there have been more socio-economic development across communities, commending the founding fathers for their dedication, forthrightness and commitment to the creation of the state in 1996.
The media adviser to Alawe, Chief Ajibade Olubunmi in a statement quoted the immediate past chairman of the state council of traditional rulers to have said, “Oba Alabi reeled out some of the gains of the state to include opening up of towns and villages through a road network by successive administrations including the present administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi.
“Among other projects mentioned by the Alawe are the establishment of tertiary institutions, ongoing construction of a cargo airport at Ado Ekiti, the completion of a befitting and modern civic centre scheduled for commissioning on 14th October 2021 by the Fayemi administration and several legacy projects either completed or ongoing.
“The monarch stated that if Ekiti State was not created twenty-five years ago, all the developments would not have been possible.
He commended the incumbent Governor of the State, His Excellency, Dr Kayode Fayemi on his efforts to further develop Ekiti State despite the economic problems in the country.”
On the sons and daughters including traditional rulers of the state who contributed immensely to the successful creation, Oba Alabi commended the likes of Chief Deji Fasuan, Dr Bode Olowoporoku, Dr Kunle Olajide, Senator Ayo Fasanmi and Professor Banji Akintoye for their efforts.
While urging residents to continue to live in peace and eschew all forms of actions that could trigger a crisis, the revered traditional ruler solicited their support for the government in its bid to transform the state.
