Ahead of the June 18 governorship election in Ekiti state, the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Chief Kemi Elebute-Halle has commenced a state-wide rally to draw support from the people for her ambition.
The female candidate who at the weekend opened her campaign office in Ikere-Ekiti, headquarters of Ikere local government of the state, expressed her desire to give the citizens a new approach by offering responsible and responsive governance.
Elebute-Halle, a successful engineer who was elated for the crowd who welcomed her said that her passion and commitment for the welfare of the people made her join the governorship race, adding that her campaign would be issue-based.
Also, she visited the palace of the Ogoga of Ikere, Oba Adejimi Adu to seek his royal blessing ahead of the governorship poll.
The traditional ruler expressed joy in her for being a female to contest for the number one seat in the state, saying the political space has not been favourable to the female gender over the years.
Oba Adu who commended the candidate for philanthropist gestures over the years for the downtrodden advised her to go about the campaign devoid of violence and thuggery.
Meanwhile, the Bricklayers Association in the state has endorsed her candidature for supporting members of the association.
The chairman, Akinola Olasupo said that the association decided to endorse her, ” because we want a new dimension to governance in the state, especially from other political parties.”
Responding, Elebute-Halle, who commended the artisans for the endorsement, assuring them of their continued support.
