Niger State Police Command has reiterated its preparedness to provide adequate security of lives and property before, during and after the forthcoming Eid-El- Kabir Sallah celebration and assures Nigerlites of sufficient deployment of Police personnel to EID praying grounds, recreation centres, and other public places across the 25 Local Government Areas in the state to ensure the safety of residents during the celebration and beyond.
The Command gave the assurance in a press statement issued by its Police Public Relations Officer( PPRO) DSP Wasiu Abiodun and made available to the newsmen, on Friday, in Minna.
The statement thereby called on Parents/Guardians to caution their children and wards against any act of public disturbance such as youth restiveness, thuggery, horse-riding, and car drifting adding, that the Command will not hesitate to clamp down on any miscreant who may want to use the period to foment trouble or cause any disruption of public peace.
It added that the ban on the use of fireworks, knockouts, bangers and other explosive devices was still in force, warning that anyone found with fireworks and knockouts shall be arrested and prosecuted.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Adamu Usman assured Nigerlites of peaceful celebration, just as he called on members of the public to be security-conscious and report any suspicious movement or persons to the Police and other security agencies for immediate intervention.
The Police Boss thereby wished all Muslim Umma in the state a joyous and hitch-free Sallah celebration.
