The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has marked a property belonging to former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso for investigation.
The inscription on the building, a big white mansion located at Miller Road Kano, read “Keep off EFCC Under investigation.”
According to a reliable source within the commission who preferred anonymity disclosed that the operatives of the anti-graft agency listed the multi-billion naira property among many properties allegedly acquired illegally by the former governor.
It was further disclosed that the operation was sequel to a petition of misappropriation of funds by some concerned indigenes who claimed he diverted the funds during his stewardship as the governor of Kano State.
It will be recalled that the former governor was under investigation by the EFCC over an allegation of diversion of local government funds amounting to N3.08 billion allegedly diverted for his presidential campaign in 2015.
But a source who also does not want his name mention and very close to Senator Kwankwaso, said the unnecessary witchhunt against former governor, will not last as it was part of illicit moves to force some opposition members to pitch tent with the ruling party
