The Edo State government on Monday set a new template towards the sustenance of development ahead of the 5th year anniversary of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration.
Addressing journalists at the Alaghodaro (progress) media launch, the secretary to the state government, SSG, Osarodion Ogie, assured that the annual summit would showcase investment opportunities and engender economic prosperity in the state.
Ogie added that the fifth year anniversary, tagged, “Edo of our dream; Building a sustainable future”, billed for November 12- 14, 2021, would be held across different venues in Benin City and would feature an economic summit, gulf tournament, and other activities.
“The fifth edition of the annual summit organised by the Edo State government in collaboration with private sector partners is to showcase investment opportunities and engender economic prosperity in our State”, the SSG explained.
Ogie, who said that some notable projects that were executed by governor Obaseki-led administration would be inaugurated during the period, listed some of the projects to include John Odigie-Oyegun staff training, the new High court buildings.
He further stated that “Alaghodaro (progress) has impacted greatly on the people of Edo State especially in areas of basic education and agriculture.
While soliciting more support from private sector actors ahead of the summit, the Edo State scribe, listed some of the outcomes of the Alaghodaro projects to include Edo State Oil Palm Programme(ESOPP), Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation (EdoBEST) programme among others.
According to him, “the programme is being organised by the Edo State government in collaboration with private sector partners, would take a reflective look at the 30 years of continued existence to take stock and join hands to collectively set the stage for the next generation.
“The 2021 summit is aimed at consolidating our years of building a vibrant private sector-led economy which has benefitted from a wide range of government reforms and programs informed by insights, learning and intelligence gathered from this sustained and evolving exchange of the private sector,” Ogie who is also a director in the Alaghodaro Board of Trustees summit said.
“The summit, among other things, is going to be the vision, sacrifice of our founding fathers, and all those who have held forth and contributed to the development of our dear state,” he added.
