Ahead of the 2024 Governorship election in Edo State, a frontline politician and governorship aspirant on the platform of Labour Party (LP), Martins Okoukoni has said that there is a dire need for institutional reformation in the state
He added that if given the opportunity to serve as governor of Edo, institutional reform and the welfare of the people would be prioritised by his administration.
Okoukoni made the assertion while declaring his intention at the Edo State Secretariat of the Labour Party to contest the governorship election next year.
He maintained that he wants to be the Governor and one of the best who will transform Edo State to the next level in the area of development and growth.
The aspirant who said he is not new in politics, said he was a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before he traveled to study abroad.
According to the LP governorship hopeful, t upon his return home, he discovered that the system on ground cannot meet the yearnings of the people compared to what is obtained in the developed climes; hence, the need for someone like him who has the required credentials to do the job.
“Looking around, all physical infrastructure are in a state of despair; no roads, the quality of education is shrinking, people are hungry, and there is a lot of frustration in Edo State.
“So, why I am running; is to have institutional reforms so that we can put things in place to be able to adequately address the needs of the majority of the people.”
