Edo APC structure belongs to no individual, says chairman

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Col. David Imuse (rtd.), has said that the party’s structure in the state does not belong to any single individual.

Imuse who stated this on Saturday during the local government congress of the party at Iguobazuwa, Ovia South West Local Government Area of the state, said that members of the party must be united in purpose to win elections.

While stressing that nobody could unilaterally lay claim to have imposed the local government executive on the people, he noted that the emergence of the LGAs executives was through democratic norms the party is known for.

“No one, no individual can lay claim to the party structure. Nobody can win any election without the party’s structure, so the structure belongs to all and not an individual,” Imuse stated.

Similarly, the head of the delegation from the National Secretariat of the APC, Alhaji Abdulwahab Yahaya, challenged the members to eschew all forms of acrimony and work for the interest of the party.

Earlier, Mr Vincent Uwadia, Chairman of the local government congress, while commending the party’s members in the council for their conduct, said that cooperation of all was needed for the growth of the party.

He sued for discipline amongst the members and challenged the new executive to discharge their duties according to the dictate of the constitution of the APC.

Uwadia said that the Edo chapter of the APC was poised for growth as the people that had not allowed it to grow had left the party for good.

“God has removed all the people that have caused problems in the party, now that they have been wielded out, it is now time to take over the state,” he stated.

The new chairman of the APC in Ovia South West,  Mr Emmanuel Ogbomo, assured the party’s leadership to work within the ambit of the APC constitution.

“I herby affirmed my loyalty to the party and I will work for the good of the party,” he said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), official, Mrs Omoye Nwoko, who was on hand to observe the congress, commended the process and conduct of the members.
