In its efforts to combat gender-based violence, a non-governmental organisation, DigitHER Initiative, a subsidiary of the Hriscare International Foundation, has trained about 300 women on digital literacy.
The event witnessed the empowerment of the beneficiaries with digital literacy training as well as the award of smartphones to top performers.
The event was held in key locations across Nigeria, including Abuja, Kaduna, and Oyo State.
In a statement signed by the founder of the DigitHER initiative, Tabitha Hris, on Thursday, she explained that the initiative is in commemoration of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, which was held between November 25 and December 10.
Hris further stated that the initiative is rooted in its commitment to women’s safety and economic advancement and also addresses challenges faced by women.
She added that the initiative is also aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty among women and enabling women to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Adding to that, the beneficiaries will serve as brand ambassadors, inspiring others and bridging the gap between their communities and DigitHER’s resources.
According to the statement, other projects by the organisation include equipping women with essential skills like digital marketing, financial literacy, and online business development.

“The initiative provides ongoing support through an online platform, offering coaching, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
