Desist from spreading dangerous rumour, CAN warns Nigerians

Disturbed by the rumour of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ill health, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on Nigerians to desist from spreading such dangerous rumour but join hands to pray for his safe return to the country.

CAN, in a statement signed by its Director of Legal and Public Affairs, Evangelist Samuel Kwamkur, expressed concern over the rumour of the president’s death which had gone viral on the social media, adding that the association was also disturbed over the discourse.

It also called on Nigerians to join hands in prayers for the quick and full recovery of the president and his safe return to Nigeria instead of dwelling on the needless rumour of his health.

“President Muhammadu Buhari is human, hence subject to health challenges like every other human being at a particular stage in life cycle. CAN appreciates the anxiety of Nigerians to hear the president speak, but sues for understanding as we await that. It is very clear that our leader is passing through health challenges,” Kwamkur said.

The association advised the Presidency to update Nigerians on how the president was faring and the progress of his recovery, just as he implored all Christians and, indeed, all God-fearing Nigerians to dedicate time of prayers for the president and the nation.
