Jigawa has witnessed a significant increase in demand for contraceptives, following successful advocacy and public enlightenment efforts on family planning.
However, the state is now facing challenges in meeting this demand due to frequent stockouts of contraceptives at health facilities and inadequate budgetary allocation.
Development partners are being urged to support the Jigawa State government in strengthening the supply chain for family planning services. This includes providing more resources for public campaigns on the importance of family planning and training for media professionals.
International partners, such as TCI and DevComs, have already made a significant impact in improving the acceptability of family planning and reproductive health in Jigawa.
Their efforts have focused on key areas, including child spacing, antenatal care, facility delivery, and routine immunisation.
