A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Delta South Senatorial seat, Hon. Mike Diden, has debunked rumours that he’s being sponsored by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.
“Ejele,” as he’s fondly called by his admirers, said the insinuation was not true, noting that God remains his Godfather and not any man.
Hon. Diden made the clarification weekend when he paid a visit to the former Chairman of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Wellington Okirika.
Hon. Diden told the Ijaw elder that he is the most qualified to contest for the senatorial seat and, therefore, would not step down for any other aspirant.
He wondered why people are insinuating that he was being goaded by an earthly Godfather, saying his resolve to
represent the people of his constituent is unshakable.
“God is my Godfather. I am not being sponsored by anybody, but God who wants me to continue to impact on the lives of my people,” the philanthropist and founder of churches noted.
Ejele said his desire to be in the Senate was to step up his capacity at a higher platform to further serve and help his people in various forms.
The Itsekiri-born recalled that he once worked with Chief Okirika who was Chairman of DESOPADEC while he was serving as Commissioner and that he could attest to his meritorious services to his people.
Hon. Diden, who is currently a lawmaker at the Delta State House of Assembly, promised to give effective representation to the major ethnic groups comprising Ijaws, Itsekiris and Isokos as well as non-indigenes residing in his constituency if elected as a Senator.
Chief Okirika, while attesting to Diden’s love and meritorious service to the people when he was in DESOPADEC, prayed for him to achieve his dream.
