An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 26-year-old man, Gbenga Olowoyo, in prison over alleged cultism.
The defendant of no fixed address is standing trial on a charge of cultism.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Olubu Apata, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence in Oke-Imesi Ekiti.
Apata alleged that he was apprehended with his members when he confessed to the police that he was a member of Eiye confraternity secret cult.

He said the offence contravened section 4 (i) of Secret Cult Abolition Law, 2017.
He said the case file was duplicated and forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The plea of the defendant was not taken.
The Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody, pending advice from the office of the director of public prosecution.
She adjourned the case until October 22 for mention.
