A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, serving with the Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI), Ilorin, Miss Esther Nwadire, has organised a skill acquisition training/empowerment programme for selected 15 indigent widows in the state.
The training programme, which was the corps member’s Community Development Service (CDS) to her host community, was also used to present start-up kits and start-up capital to the beneficiaries for commercial purposes
Speaking at the programme, the state coordinator of the scheme, Mrs Francisca Olaleye, called on Nigerian youths in different workplaces to channel their energies into productive activities instead of engaging in crimes.
Speaking through an Assistant Director in the agency, Mr Orangun Adegboyega, the NYSC boss appealed to other corps members to emulate the initiative of Miss Nwadire, adding that she has used the programme to contribute to national development and make NYSC proud.
The initiator, Miss Nwadire, who expressed her gratitude to the NYSC for providing the platform to articulate her ideas, enjoined the beneficiaries to make effective use of the skills acquired, the start-up kits and Startup Capital for commercial purposes.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Mopelola Aregbesola, commended Miss Nwadire for the opportunity and promised not to let her down.
She was full of praises to the NYSC for the encouragement to the corps member.
