THE Centre Africa Broadcasting Network Corporation (CABNC-TV) has officially launched the African Diaspora Distinguished Leadership Award and the Diaspora Today Magazine.
The event was held at the African Union (AU) Mission in Washington DC, United States of America.
The awardees included Dr Mima Nedelcovych, Chairman, Africa Global received the 2018 African Diaspora Distinguished Leadership Award.
Mr Jean AbiNader, Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director, AbiNader International Services USA, and Mr Melvin Foote, President/Chief Executive Officer, Constituency for Africa, both received the Legacy of Leadership 2018 awards.
Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao, AU Permanent Representative to the US was honoured with the Outstanding Leadership Award.
Dr Mima S. Nedelcovych served in the Administration of President George Bush from 1989 to 1993 as the US Executive Director to the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. Dr Mima was honoured with the 2018 African Diaspora Distinguished Leadership Award.

The event was attended by a host of stakeholders including the Nigerians in the Diaspora-Washington DC Chapter (NIDO-DC), and Mr Gambo Hamza, of the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC.
Mr AbdulRasheed Abubakar, Publisher, said that the Diaspora Today Magazine is more than just news. He told the audience at the event that “we promote your products and services to a niche audience of estimated 1.3 billion Africans in the Diaspora.
“Diaspora Today Magazine fills a niche that is very critical – providing most interesting news and analysis tailored to the overseas communities with an emphasis on stories and features that will enable readers to keep up to date on the trends and developments in Africa, especially in those sectors where they can make a difference – real estate and tourism, investments, health and social services, education and philanthropy, current events, women and youth in development, and similar topics.”
