The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, was commended by the Executive Governor of Borno State, His Excellency Babagana Umara Zulum, on Thursday, March 14, 2025, at the Borno State Government House in Maiduguri, for his leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
In a move to significantly bolster operational capabilities and improve the welfare of police personnel and other security agencies in Borno State, the IGP commissioned a fleet of new vehicles and housing units. During the event, where he was the special guest of honor, the IGP and the entire police force were praised for their remarkable efforts in ensuring national security.
Accompanied by Governor Zulum, distinguished senators, and other dignitaries, the IGP commissioned 110 operational vehicles for the Nigeria Police Force and the Armed Forces, along with 500 motorcycles to enhance the mobility of security operatives and improve response times to security challenges across the state.
Additionally, 40 newly constructed housing units were inaugurated, adding to the 230 units previously allocated to the Nigeria Police Force at the Mai Mala Buni Housing Estate.
Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the police in their mission to secure Borno State. He emphasized the importance of providing officers with the necessary resources to effectively carry out their duties.

IGP Egbetokun expressed his gratitude for the Borno State Government’s continuous support and underscored the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to enhancing security operations and improving officers’ welfare.
He noted that the newly acquired operational assets would significantly boost rapid response capabilities, while the housing units would serve as an incentive for officers, strengthening their commitment to duty.
