The public presentation of a book titled: ‘Abiola Ajimobi: the Priorities of Governance: Templates for Achieving a Progressive State’ will be part of highlight of the final event marking the 70th birthday anniversary of the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, on Monday, December 16, 2019, at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.
In a statement made available to Nigerian Tribune in Ibadan on Sunday, the author of the book, Mr Adesina Olawuwo said that the book captured the policies and programmes of Senator Ajimobi administration as a fundamental basis for achieving an ideal progressive and egalitarian state as envisaged by Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

According to him, the book, which foreword was written by the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was written in the twilight of the administration and anchored the narrative of the present in order to preserve the Ajimobi’s prioritisation of governance as constant theory and model for any government in the country which wished to be persuaded by the passion of the founding fathers.
“Few people ever noticed the Chief Awolowo’s commitment to the macroeconomy and the prioritization of infrastructure and industrialisation which actually made the free education, free medicare, rural development and the creation of jobs possible. I saw this and I saw a semblance of it in the way and manner Senator Ajimobi ran the pacesetter state, Oyo for eight years” Adesina said.
The author noted that the progressive ideals remained the true basis to run Oyo state and the entire southwest and therefore called on the present administration in the State and, in fact, states government in Nigeria to dig into the book and see Ajimobi’s templates as a Handbook of Good Governance.
