The Vice Chancellor of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Professor Fatimah Tahir, has underscored the crucial role of academic staff in achieving academic excellence and upholding the standards of the university.
Speaking at the opening of a 3-day seminar organized by the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Professor Tahir emphasized that academic staff are the backbone of the university, and their caliber is reflected in the output of the institution.
“The quality of academic staff is evident in the quality of graduates the university produces,” she said, adding that academic staff are responsible for molding the character of students, which is why certificates carry both character and learning.
The seminar, which drew 75 participants from various departments of the university, aimed to enhance the capacity of academic staff and equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality education.
Professor Tahir commended the Directorate of Academic Planning for initiating the seminar, which she described as an orientation for new staff members. She urged participants to make the best use of the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge.
The Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Aliyu, emphasized the importance of the seminar in achieving the university’s mission of academic excellence. He noted that the seminar would cover key areas such as teaching, research, community service, and university administration.
A similar seminar is scheduled to hold at the Yuli Campus on February 17, with an additional 75 participants, bringing the total number of participants to 150.
