
The Command PPRO, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar said that all the suspects were arrested during recent raids carried out in different parts of the state by men of the Command.
Kamal Datti Abubakar who brides Journalists during the parade of the suspects at the Command Headquarters in Bauchi said that, following intelligence reports, on January 22, 2018, at about 12 pm, men of the Command traced and arrested the suspects in their hideout while planning to attack some strategic locations in the Bauchi metropolis.
The Police spokesperson also said that investigation revealed that the syndicate operated in Bauchi, Plateau, Gombe and Nasarawa states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to him, the suspects arrested include Ahmed Mohammed, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Shu’aibu Adamu, Sani Ibrahim, Yakubu Musa, Musa Isa, Zakariya’u Mohammed, Salisu Mohammed, and Bala Ahmadu.
He added that during interrogation, all the suspects confessed to the crime and that they would be charged to court on completion of the investigation.
Datti Abubakar also said that on January 11, 2018, at about 9am, one Isiaka Boderi of Gasu village in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area reported to the police that on the same date at about 1 am, five gunmen stormed his residence and stabbed him in the head, robbed him of the sum of N5,000 and also kidnapped his two wives.
He said the hoodlums then demanded a ransom of N500,000 for his wives’ release.
Abubakar said, “On the receipt of the report, the team of Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command swung into action, traced and rescued the hostages at the Gasol Forest, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.”
He said the suspects arrested were Ibrahim Yau, Sani Abubakar and Basiru Abubakar, adding that during interrogation, the victims revealed being raped by the kidnappers on several occasions.
He said all the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution as soon as all investigations were completed calling on residents to always volunteer information that will lead to the arrest of criminals in the society because according to him, security is everyone’s business.
