Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter have reportedly ended their relationship after a year of dating, with sources saying the split is “for now.”
The couple was first linked in December 2023 when they were spotted enjoying a dinner together. Just a year later, following a series of public appearances and romantic gestures, including music videos and mutual admiration, it is seen that their relationship has come to an end.
A source close to the couple shared with People magazine: “They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break.” This decision comes after months of speculation and media buzz about their relationship, which included public outings such as the Grammy’s after-party in February and Coachella, where they both were seen in various romantic contexts.
While neither Keoghan nor Carpenter have explicitly confirmed their relationship, their connection has been widely discussed, particularly after Barry starred in Sabrina’s music video for Please Please Please. During their time together, Sabrina praised Barry as “one of the best actors of this generation,” and noted that they were astrologically aligned, according to Variety.
Despite the breakup rumours, a source claimed that the couple’s differences were apparent earlier this year, with an unnamed individual telling The Sun that Carpenter had grown frustrated with Keoghan’s behaviour when intoxicated.
Keoghan’s personal life has also come under the spotlight, particularly his past relationship with Alyson Sandro, with whom he shares a child born in August 2022.
While the details of their split have remained private, Keoghan has recently faced public criticism over his parenting. He addressed the issue during an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, where he defended himself against accusations of being an absentee father.
“If I didn’t have tough skin or the strength, I wouldn’t be sitting here,” he remarked, adding that without a father figure himself, he had to rely on his own instincts as a parent.
Professionally, Keoghan has a starring role in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, where he portrays a mysterious new character alongside Cillian Murphy. Meanwhile, Carpenter has enjoyed a successful year, with chart-topping songs and a sold-out tour.
