In this vein, the Federal Capital Territory Administration under the leadership of Mohammed Bello, the FCT minister, should quickly do something before it is too late.
Recently, there was mayhem at Wuse market in Abuja due to the unnecessary and incessant arrests of taxi drivers by the Task Force constituted by the FCT minister.
Before now, I have witnessed on several occasions how the task force arrested and treated some drivers as if they were criminals.
Indeed, the fresh incident between the taxi drivers and the Task Force at Wuse market, where the police arrested more than 10 taxi drivers, claiming that they were hoodlums, is highly disturbing.
Let me at this point applaud the media for investigating the incident and letting the public know that the arrested taxi drivers were not criminals.
It is encouraging that more than 20 human rights lawyers have agreed to represent and fight for the release of the drivers.
However, the FCT authorities must act fast by investigating the allegations against the members of the Ministerial Joint Task Force.
