National Association Of Female Comrades (NAFC) Ogun State Chapter has a medical outreach programme for female students in Ogun.
The programme which was held at Methodist Grammar School, Igan Road, Ago-Iwoye, has a theme: “You and Your Health”.
Comrade Babalola Elizabeth Olaitan, the Deputy Coordinator of the programme explained that the initiative was a vital step in supporting and empowering young female students by promoting health education and academic support.
“This outreach programme was designed to educate the students on the importance of maintaining good health, particularly in terms of menstrual hygiene, while also providing them with essential resources to support their academic journeys.
“As part of our commitment to enhancing students’ welfare, we distributed sanitary pads to female students, emphasizing the need for proper menstrual hygiene and underscoring the role of these essential products in maintaining their health and dignity.”
According to him, the provision of the products formed part of the group’s effort to address common challenges faced by female students due to limited access to menstrual hygiene resources, which can often disrupt their education and well-being.
He added, “In addition to promoting health awareness, we also supported the students academically by providing writing materials.
“This contribution is intended to ease their educational journey by ensuring they have basic tools needed for academic success, reinforcing our commitment to the advancement and empowerment of young girls in our community.
“Through an interactive health session, our team engaged the students in a meaningful discussion covering important aspects of health, such as nutrition, physical exercise, and mental well-being.
“This created a safe space for the students to express their concerns, ask questions, and receive guidance on health-related topics that impact their daily lives.”
Comr. Babalola Elizabeth Olaitan commended the responses from the students that attended the event, saying it was encouraging as they demonstrated strong support from the school authorities.
He said, “The students actively participated throughout the programme, showing keen interest in the information provided, while the distribution of sanitary pads and writing materials was received with sincere gratitude. We are confident that this initiative will have a lasting positive impact, supporting the students both academically and personally.
“We extend our deepest appreciation to the administration of Methodist Grammar School for their cooperation and invaluable support in making this outreach a reality.
“Additionally, we commend the dedication and hard work of the NAFC team members, who have tirelessly committed to our mission of empowering young women.
“Their efforts have been instrumental in making this event a success. Our gratitude also goes to all supporters who believe in our mission and enable us to carry out initiatives like “You and Your Health,” which aim to foster well-being, confidence, and academic success among young women in Ogun.
“As we continue our journey towards empowering the next generation, we remain committed to making a positive difference in our community. Programs like this highlight our dedication to the health, education, and personal growth of young women, and we look forward to future initiatives that will further uplift and inspire them,” the NAFC Deputy Coordinator added.
