Acting President Yemi Osinbajo was in attendance as worshippers praised and thanked God for his healing for Buhari and his successful return to the country.
Different groups took turns to render songs and danced to rhythmic beats from the in-house band.
The songs were in different languages including English, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa.
A special ministration with the title: “All Things are Working for My Good” was rendered by the choir to honour the Lord for sparing President Buhari’s life.
Similarly, prayers of thanksgiving were also offered in the three major languages by the immediate-past Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Deaconess Juan Ayo; Reverend Ambi and Mr King Opuru.
The Chapel’s Administrator, Rev Isaac Ambi, who presided over the service, said the church was happy that the president had returned safely.
“We want to rejoice with our father, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, for the safe return of our President and our father, Muhammadu Buhari. And we also want to thank God on how he has used you in piloting the affairs of Nigeria while the president was away,” he said.
Giving the sermon entitled: “What is New for a Christian,” the church Administrator, Rev Ambi, who spoke from John 15:1-11 and Psalm 23, urged everyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as one’s Lord and Saviour to continue to live one’s life according to the dictate of Christ.
He added: “A Christian life is a matter of relationship; knowing the rules and the regulation. So what is your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ? We are supposed to have a kind of relationship that draws our strength from Jesus Christ.”
According to the clergyman, one of the new things a Christian is a new position, a new possession, a new product and a new focus.
“As soon as we receive Christ, we will experience the great exchange according to 2 Corinthians 32. So you have a new position because Jesus has taken the centre stage in your life and that is why a Christian must not engage in shady deals. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature,” he said.
Buhari returned to the country on Saturday evening after pressure mounted by the group, “Return or Resign” led by entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy.
He left Abuja for the United Kingdom on May 7, 2017 for what the Presidency announced then was a medical vacation for an undisclosed ailment.
Before that he had on 19 January 19, 2017 left for UK for a similar medical vacation.
On February 5, 2015, he requested that National Assembly to extend the medical leave and later returned to Nigeria on March 10, 2017 but was unable to resume work immediately.
On April 26, 2017, he missed meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for the second time as Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, explained that he was working from home.
But on April 28, 2017, Buhari missed his usual Friday prayers at the presidential villa mosque and thereafter on May 3, 2017, failed to show up at FEC for the third time.
On May 5, 2017, he attended Friday prayers but travelled on May 7, 2017 after playing host to newly released Chibok School girls.
Buhari’s wife, Aisha, who had gone to London to be with the husband was conspicuously absent at the airport as she did not travel on the presidential aircraft 001 with the president.
