THE problems that faced Nigeria in President Muhammadu Buhari’s absence included the quit notice given to all Igbo people living in all the northern states by Arewa youths, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike and incessant Boko Haram attacks.
Five senior lecturers of the University of Maiduguri were murdered while others, including a professor, were also kidnapped.
President Buhari is a man that everybody loves to lead this nation. Nigerians want the president to call Arewa youths to order. He should warn them to leave the Igbo people living in the northern states alone. No group has a right to issue quit notice to the Igbo.
President Buhari is not a northern president; he is a president to all Nigerians. Nigeria belongs to all of us. The Arewa youths should not do anything capable of causing a civil war in the country.
President Buhari is back home and this is the right time to act fast on the threat. I was very glad when I read the statement credited to President Buhari that the unity of this nation was not negotiable.
The president’s critics should allow him to finish his job. The president is courageous and reasonable, and means well for the nation.
