MEMBERS of the Arewa Community in Ogun State have pledged to deliver no fewer than 300,000 votes for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential and the state governorship candidates, President Muhammadu Buhari and Prince Dapo Abiodun in the 2019 elections.
This was disclosed by the group’s Political Affairs Coordinator, Prince Hadi Sani, during a senatorial interactive meeting of the Community held in Abeokuta, on Wednesday.
Sani said the Arewa Community comprising 19 Northern States would mobilise its members across the state to ensure the duo’s victory in the election.
They promised to align with the anti-corruption and good governance of President Buhari for continuity, calling on all its members to vote for APC at all levels in the elections.
The Community also appealed to aggrieved members of the party to respect the decision of the party on the outcome of the party’s primaries.
In his remark at the meeting, Hon Adekunle Adeyemi urged the Arewa Community to resist intimidation and vote in mass for Abiodun in next year’s election.

“On no account must anybody intimidate you. On no account must anybody send you away from Ogun State.
“Don’t allow anybody to steal your ballots. Be there in large number. Don’t joke with 2019 elections because it will surely determine our future both in Ogun and Nigeria at large,” Adeyemi said.
Also, Ogun APC chieftain, Ganiyu Hamzat, urged the community to embark of massive grassroots mobilization for the reelection of President Buhari and election of Abiodun in 2019.
Meanwhile, hundreds of All Progressives Congress (APC) faithful in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State have also declared support for the state gubernatorial candidate, Prince Adedapo Abiodun.
They are said to be loyalists of Governor Ibikunle Amosun and are mostly members of the party from the 15 Wards of the local government.
The party faithful also vowed to work and ensure the victory of Abiodun in 2019 governorship polls and other APC candidates contesting in the general elections, including the President Muhammadu Buhari – Yemi Osinbajo joint ticket.
While addressing a press conference at the Secretariat of the Ogun State Council, Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Iwe-Iroyin, Abeokuta, the leader of the group, Mr. Oyatayo Gabriel Ayomikun stated that they have decided to abide by the decision of APC National Working Committee (NWC) and back the candidature of Abiodun.
” I want to appeal to the Governor to allow the supremacy of the party. This is the only way the governor can be a true party man and the leader he claimed to be,” he added.
He disclosed that they would use all the resources to ensure Dapo Abiodun emerged as the next Governor of the state.
Ayomikun also passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of Oshiomole led NWC.
