On Friday, the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division affirmed the election of Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir as the validly elected Governor of Bauchi State.
In its judgment, the Appeal Court upheld the decision of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which had earlier ruled in favour of Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir’s second-term victory as declared by INEC.
The Appeal Court dismissed the appeal filed by the defeated gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Amb Saddique Baba Abubakar, who was unsatisfied with INEC’s declaration.
Meanwhile, Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau welcomed the Appeal Court verdict, affirming their successful victory alongside Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 governorship election in the state.
Auwal Jatau stated that the victory at the Appeal Court not only affirms the strength of democracy but also solidifies the commitment of the present administration of Governor Bala Mohammed towards progress, development, and the general well-being of the people of the state.
The Deputy Governor also emphasised that the resounding victory at the appeal court is a triumph for all the state’s people, signifying the PDP-led administration’s collective efforts in advancing good governance, providing quality education, ensuring accessible healthcare, fostering economic growth, and promoting peace and unity.
According to him, “I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all the citizens of Bauchi state for their unwavering support and trust in our administration.”
Auwal Jatau added, “Their resilience, determination, and belief in our vision has brought us to this remarkable milestone today. Their faith in us fuels us to work towards a brighter and more prosperous future tirelessly.”
The Deputy Governor further expressed his sincere appreciation to the Appeal Court for ensuring a fair and transparent judicial process.
“The verdict is a testament to the efficacy of our justice system and its commitment to upholding the principles of justice, equity, and the rule of law. Our Governor’s victory is a victory for progress, for the downtrodden, and for every citizen who has entrusted their hopes and dreams to our administration,” he stressed.
Auwal Jatau once again assured the people of Bauchi state of the commitment of the PDP-led administration to their welfare and the development of the state, pointing out that the victory is a fresh impetus to redouble efforts, remain focused and continue delivering on campaign promises. The administration will continue to prioritize the needs of the people, create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, enhance infrastructure, and ensure that no one is left behind in the pursuit of progress.
He emphasised, “On behalf of the entire stakeholders of our administration, I extend my profound gratitude to our Governor, His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his tenacity, courage, and resilience.”
