The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has joined the list of states in the federation where the Ward Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scheduled for today would not hold.
Speaking with journalists on Friday at a media briefing ahead of today’s (Saturday) exercise, Professor Mamman Tahir, a member of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee said the exercise has been shelved in Anambra and Zamfara. He cited the forthcoming Governorship election in November in the Southeast state as a reason for the postponement while Zamfara was put on hold because of the ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise in the North West state.
There was no sign of the ward exercise in areas visited by Tribune Online in Abuja.
The publicity Secretary of the APC, FCT chapter, Olusola Folorunsho Ore told Sunday Tribune in a telephone interview that stakeholders of the party are yet to agree on guidelines to be adopted.
He noted that the party national secretariat had made a pronouncement on consensus arrangement with condition that election should take place where there is no unanimity.
Ore told Tribune Online that a meeting of the APC stakeholders would hold next week when a decision would be taken on the option to be adopted.
He further revealed that the ward congress may hold next weekend.
