The All Progressives Congress (APC) Imo State has said that the ward congress already scheduled for today will still hold.
The party leadership said that there is no court order stopping the state congress.
In a statement issued in Owerri by the Director-General, APC Media Centre, Cajethan Duke, described the statement in the social media purporting a restraining order against the conduct of the ward congress as reckless.
He said: “We are not unmindful of the sponsors of such mischievous and misleading publications. For the avoidance of doubt; There is no court order restraining the party from the conduct of its scheduled ward congress in Imo today.”
The party expressed dismay that the former governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, had through his proxy Okay Anikwa, approached an FCT High Court seeking injunction to stop the APC from holding its congress in Imo which was unfruitful.
He said that unfortunately the court presided by Justice Valentine Origi in his wisdom declined such obnoxious motion.
The director-general said that already the executive governor and leader of APC in Imo State had hosted critical stakeholders of the party in a pre-congress parley in preparation for the congress.
According to him, the governor had demonstrated his commitment to building APC into a robust, vibrant, inclusive and attractive political party in Imo.
The party, therefore, informed all its members as well as aspirants to various ward positions to disregard any contrary announcement to this effect as the congress holds today, Saturday, July 31, 2021 as earlier announced.
