The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Alhaji Falalu Bello, has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as “birds of the same feather,” accusing both of lacking clear ideologies to govern.
He alleged that their primary goal is to run Nigeria aground and plunder its resources for selfish gains.
Bello made this statement during a press conference in Abuja over the weekend, where he announced a potential alliance between his party and the Ralph Nwosu-led African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He criticized the anti-people policies of the APC and PDP, stating that these policies have overwhelmed Nigerians and led to the extinction of the middle class over the last 25 years of democratic rule. According to Bello, the same set of politicians have been moving back and forth between the APC and PDP, not to improve the lives of Nigerians, but to satisfy their own greed.
To address this, Bello announced that the PRP and ADC have decided to begin earnest discussions about an alliance, calling on other interested parties to join the effort. He explained that although the PRP, ADC, and other parties had previously discussed an alliance before the 2023 general elections, the timing was too close to the polls to achieve meaningful progress.
“If you want to join a party that is leftist, come here,” Bello said. “If you want to continue with a party that is anti-people and focused on money, go to the PDP or APC because that is what they stand for. They are two sides of the same coin, and the same people are just playing games with us. We are tired, and it’s time to start something new. If stepping down as PRP chairman is necessary, so be it. This is not about me; the country is far more important than all of us.”
He continued, “The purpose of this press conference is to announce to Nigerians that the PRP and ADC have decided to explore an alliance that could even lead to a merger. Over the last 26 years under PDP and APC governments, it has become clear there have been no real elections in this country. We have an ideology focused on nation-building, as the essence of politics, democracy, and governance is to serve the citizens and develop the country.”

Bello further emphasized, “Joining the PDP or APC is like asking me to jump into a well. Our politics is not about ‘chopping money’ but about salvaging Nigeria for the poor. Today, even the middle class has disappeared in Nigeria. People can no longer meet their basic needs or feed their families. Without a thriving middle class, no country can grow. The middle class is the engine for economic growth worldwide, and we have destroyed it in Nigeria.”
He added, “Before the last elections, five of us—Labour Party, Peoples Redemption Party, African Democratic Congress, African Democratic Party, and others—began discussing an alliance. However, it was too close to the general elections to achieve anything meaningful. Now, we are starting early. Ultimately, this could lead to a merger, and we are not afraid of that. The PRP is the oldest political party in Nigeria, having formed a government in Kaduna State in 1979 through a political alliance. Back then, UPN, NPP, and PRP joined forces to win elections. It is possible again. We are inviting other parties and individuals to join us; our doors are open.”
On his part, the National Chairman of ADC, Chief Ralph Nwosu, explained that the alliance is party-driven and not for politicians merely seeking office.
“This is about people who believe enough is enough,” Nwosu said. “Eventually, individuals will seek office, but they will come with principles that align with our vision.”
