Similarly, promotion interviews for the council servants for the year 2018 have commenced and about the same number of workers are set to benefit from the exercise.
According to the Chairman Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Dr Sir Peter Egenti, yesterday in Awka, the Anambra State government has concluded all outstanding promotion up to the year 2017.
“Yes we have been able to carry out promotions up till the 2017 and for this year a total 1,874 Local Government staff were promoted and with this, we do not have any pending promotion we have commenced interviews for the 2018 promotion exercise.”
Egenti further announced that the commission would be organizing a productivity display this week which according to him would be an exhibition of household products of the staff of the twenty-one Local Government areas of the State.
We encouraged our staff to go into entrepreneurship by organizing a workshop programme for them on skill acquisition.”
“This has indeed created skills and craft for our workers so that they do not depend only on their monthly salary. In the next two days or so we shall hold an exhibition to showcase that.”

Meanwhile the joint meeting between the senior special Assistant to Anambra State governor Chief Pius Ezeagwu and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), in Anambra State yesterday ended in resolutions which include a further increase in salary of civil servants.
Speaking shortly after the meeting the chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC), in Anambra, Comrade Ifeanyi Okechukwu, said yesterday we had a meeting that was fruitful with the SSA to the Governor, and part of our agreement was another salary increase by the State Government.
“you will recall that the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, had increased the salary of civil servants in 2015 by fifteen percent and we are expecting another salary increase very soon.”
The issue of staff promotions have been taken care of and persons are being paid while we expect the settlement of disparity in salaries between the Local Government workers and State civil servants”
