Helen Adedamola Agboola, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DAKAMTO Travels and Tour holds a B.Sc in Psychology from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State. The psychologist-turned travel consultant in this interview with Deborah Mustapha speaks about her experience as an entrepreneur.
What has been your life experience?
I am still learning but so far so good. I have gathered experience in diverse areas such as ability to create wealth (make do with what is at hand), I have built healthy relationships. I have learnt about the power of consistency, ability to stick to plan(s), creating, values to attract the right calibre, humility and taste for quality. The foundation of all my life experience(s) is allowing the senior partner (Holy Spirit) to rule in all situations.
How can you differentiate between failure and success?
To me, failure is the ability to get knocked out after several attempts by giving in to defeat while success is the ability to live a life of legacy, impacting people around you with all your accrued resources.

You are the CEO of Dakamto travels and tours as well as DKT unisex, how are you able to combine the two?
I am the team lead to the Glory of God and ever since I came to the reality of living a life of purpose at a tender age, I began to write down my ideas and kept at it until I got a concept in beauty line and Aviation industry (which has always been a dream even when I never knew how to birth it into reality). Nevertheless, I surrounded myself with purposeful people. However, slow and steady made it a reality.
The name DAKAMTO sounds funny, what’s the secret behind it?
It is just what God wants because I could remember that I submitted numerous names to my lawyer when I was about to register the company but fortunately the combinations of my first name and my babies were accepted, which is Da(mola), Kam(isi), To(oni). That is the full meaning of DAKAMTO.
Being a CEO, what are the challenges you’ve faced and you are still facing?
I have the knowledge that new or higher position comes with responsibilities. I always create room to be better for improvement and to have more success rates in what I do. At DAKAMTO, we give best service to clients.
Being an entrepreneur, what can you say about it?
This is like writing a book but in one word, an entrepreneur is someone with ability to think of a problem, proffer solution s) and risks his or her money for a purposeful living and freedom and not receiving money in place of freedom.
How do you manage to satisfy your clients and customers?
In economics, human needs are insatiable but yet we listen to what they want and try to meet their needs through building good relationships with them. We don’t fight them but grow beyond tendering services.
Your words of encouragement to the youths out there who prefers white collar jobs compared to business?
I will start by saying stand for something, find your path, create and build your passion. We all can’t stand as a whole, some will always work best under an organisation and while doing this,it is an avenue to become a whole. The sweetest thing honestly is to lead a team. The truth is that it is only the ones with burning passion and the will to get the task done that can succeed as an entrepreneur. However, whatever you choose to do, don’t be intimidated but be motivated.
