Africa’s richest man and CEO of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has been named among Time Magazine’s 100 philanthropy list for the year 2025.
The Nigerian billionaire, with a net worth of $23.9 billion, is recognized not only for building an industrial empire spanning cement, agriculture, and oil refining through Dangote Refinery, but also for his extensive philanthropic efforts through the Aliko Dangote Foundation.
“Health, education, economic empowerment, disaster relief, and food—these are the five main things that any African nation needs,” The Time quoted Dangote as saying, referring to the foundation’s core focus areas.

Aliko Dangote Foundation, endowed with $1.25 billion, spends about $35 million annually across Africa.
According to the release by Time on Tuesday, the foundation is currently running a $100 million multi-year program to treat malnourished children and recently launched a nationwide distribution of over one million bags of rice in Nigeria.
The Time added that Dangote’s partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, for an earlier vaccine initiatives, helped Nigeria eliminate polio as a health threat by 2015.
According to the release, education is also a priority to the foundation owned by the business magnate, with strong backing for education and youth development. The magazine cited a recent $10 million donation to Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology and investments in school complexes, vocational training, and global leadership fellowships.
“We need to create the next generation of African leaders,” Dangote stated.
