Akinfenwa, a great leader, lived for truth — Omisore

The former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has condoled with the Akinfenwa family over the demise of their father, Senator Mojisoluwa Akinfenwa, a former national chairman of Alliance for Democracy (AD).

Aged, 89, Senator Akinfenwa, a former minority leader at the Senate, died on Thursday, September 3, 2019.

Omisore, who paid a condolence visit to the Ibadan home of the Akinfenwas Friday morning, was received by one of the children of the deceased, Mrs Tolu Akingbehin, on behalf of the family.

In his condolence message, Omisore described the late Akinfenwa, as a great leader and a mentor who will be missed by all.

“Baba was my father, leader and mentor. He lived for truth throughout his life. May his soul rest in peace. I will miss him, the entire progressive shall miss him,” Omisore said.

Senator Akinfenwa, who represented the people of Osun East constituency in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2003, was an elder statesman, a professional teacher, politician and community leader.

He was also a former commissioner for education in Oyo State, under the late Bola Ige as the governor of Oyo State between 1979 and 1983.

He was succeeded in the Senate by Senator Omisore, who later represented the people of Osun East constituency in the National Assembly from 2003 to 2009, where he emerged the Senate Committee Chairman for Appropriation.

He prayed to God for the repose of the soul of late Akinfenwa.
