Ajimobi moves to purge Oyo APC of wrangling

GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi, on Thursday, inaugurated the council of elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with mandates that include ensuring that the party is purged of unnecessary internal wrangling at the grassroots and local government level.
Speaking at the inauguration held at Lafia hotel, Ajimobi identified the key role of elders in restructuring and repositioning the party for unity and sustainability.
He appealed to the elders to work in unison with others at the grassroots to ensure the success of the party in subsequent elections in the state.
Furthermore, Ajimobi stated his resolve to conduct local government election in the state as soon as the on-going legal tussle was resolved.
“We have selected our elders to rejuvenate the party. With this one, we will go further in our restructuring and repositioning programme so that our party can remain strong and united. Now, we have government, we must also have strong party for now and for the future and to reposition it for comprehensive victory at the future elections,” Ajimobi said.
State Chairman of the party, Mr Akin Oke said the elder’s council would largely function in an advisory capacity to make the task of crisis management easier for the governor and the party leadership.
Some elders of the party present at the event were, Dr Busari Adebisi, Chief S. O Laoye, Pa T. A Jolaoso, Chief S. O Ogundiran, Mogaji Banji Olorode, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi and Chief Samuel Adekola.
