Speaking at the just concluded air traffic controllers’ annual general meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Dung, maintained that Pilots and airspace users were satisfied with the operational level of equipment provided by the management of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency NAMA to ensure seamless operations.
His words: “The airspace is safe and there has been a great improvement in the navigational aids especially in the area of communications and we are ready to fix all non-functional equipment to ensure seamless operations in the country’s airspace”.
The NAAE president while describing disunity as the bane of the agency, promised to ensure stability in the system especially with other professional colleagues to enable NAMA achieve its aims and objectives of NAMA.
Dung, who said the emergence of Captain Fola Akinkuotu, as the NAMA boss had cemented the relationship between workers and other professional bodies in the agency, however said there is room for improvement on workers renumeration which he attributed to why workers still continue to agitate for enhanced salary package.
Lamenting the shortage of personnel in the engineering department, Dung, noted that the shortage of personnel will be a challenge even as he however noted that it will not have negative impact on the system like grounding their operations.
