The operation to remove the gall bladder is very safe. What happens is that the gall bladder is removed and the bile duct is instead connected directly to the intestine, so instead of being stored in the gallbladder until wanted by your digestion, the bile drips constantly through into the intestine as it is produced. This is not a real problem. Usually, you are recommended to follow a low-fat diet and avoid anything deep fried for perhaps 3 months. After that most people find they can eat normally, but some people continue to suffer from indigestion if they eat a very fatty meal. However, this can be managed with simple medications. It is a lot better than the agony of having a gallstone.
