A tanker driver, Jubril Suleiman, who allegedly caused multiple accidents on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Friday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Jubril, 38, hails from Jurankari Saminaka in Lare Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The accused is facing a six-count charge bordering on dangerous driving and causing serious damage.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Lucky Ihiehie, said that Jubril drove without a licence and vehicle particulars and caused multiple accidents that injured some people.
Ihiehie told the court that the driver committed the offences on May 30 at 2.20p.m at Alapere on the expressway.
He said that the accidents involved a truck with registration number JJJ654 XP, a Mercedes Benz marked FKJ 667 XP and a truck with registration number KMC 7742Q, driven by the accused.
“Four victims were rushed to a hospital for treatment, while the damaged vehicles were taken to the station.”
He said that the offences contravene Sections 18, Schedule 1(1), Schedule 2, (11, 12) and Section 19 (1) of the Lagos State Road Traffic Law, 2013.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. Sule-Amzat, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties, whose addresses must be verified.
The case has been adjourned until July 7.
