For many households using prepaid meters, this is not an easy period as many have been living with constant beeping from their meters warning them that their unit is about to finish. But they had been unable to reload because of difficulty in getting code for meter upgrade known as KCT 1 and KCT 2.
If you fall in this position, here are few tips on making your prepaid electricity vending systems more secure and Token Identifier (TID) rollover compliant by loading two Key Change Tokens (KCT1 & KCT2) in addition to your normal energy token.
Purchase electricity token: When you do this, you will receive three tokens; the first two are the key change tokens and the last is your purchased electricity token.
Enter the key change tokens: On your meter, enter the two KCTs (KCT1 & KCT2) one after the other, then the electricity token which is the third one. With this, meter upgrade is now complete.
If you, however, buy token online and could not generate KCT, it is not an issue, just go to the nearest business hub of your power distribution company, the code will be generated without stress.
Getting your KCT is free of charge and the upgrade will not affect your current electricity tariff rate.
