8 style trends to watch for in 2018

Fashion never sleeps! That’s the line fashionistas should work with in 2018, starting today, one full week into the New Year. With the creativity that came with 2017, style enthusiasts have much to contend with this year, especially as it relates to drama, creativity and elegance. The Makeover crystal ball shares a few trends to watch out for in 2018:

Bring drama to the sleeves

2017 saw a major outing with bell sleeves, and a few other deviations, which came up towards the end of the year. 2018 is also looking up as the year for dramatic sleeves. Balloon, cold-shoulder, bell variations, among other sleeves will make a major outing this year.

Curvy is the new sexy

Once upon a time, the rave was about looking thin as a stick, and slim girls were the talk of town. However, for 2018, whatever effort you put into losing weight, ensure you lose weight in the right places, and if possible, make some addition in the right places as well. With the spike in the sale of artificial boobs and butt, and waist cinchers, you don’t need our crystal ball to tell you what the future of 2018 looks like. 2018 is looking good for the hip-endowed fashionable female lot.

Slits are lit

Slits keep coming and going but 2018 is a promising one for slits. Back, side, front, mid-length, wherever, feel free to work with your stylist on slits. For the very dramatic effect, work with styles that give enough room to manoeuvre especially when sitting to avoid embarrassment. More importantly, understand your legs before working with slits. Front slits, for instance, would not do too well on bow-legged people.

Attention the nude way

Gone are the days of bright makeup. 2018 will see more toning down on the bright-coloured section of the makeup department. Crystal ball sees more nude lips, especially for formal events.

It’s all about stones

This year will see more investment in the stoning department. So, if you’re a stylist, brush up on your creativity when it comes to stoning skills if your intention is to keep and increase your customer base. There will be more venturing into as many fabrics and styles as possible with stones. Beyond the usual designs, headgears, accessories and even footwear will not be left out of this creative improvement.

It’s a braided year

Braids look to trend this year. Blame it on diminishing resources, better styling alternatives, effective management techniques, or even the growth of natural hair benefit, braids will be a major go-to this year.

With the major improvements recorded in the later part of last year, looking to spill into the New Year, wigs, of as many hairstyles as can be imagined, will most definitely be a major part of many ladies’ fashion collection this year.
