Members of the National Assembly (NAS) from Jigawa State have endorsed the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi, for a second term.
Senator Abdulhamid Ahmed, who represents Jigawa North East Senatorial District, made the disclosure during a Citizens and Government Engagement Programme in Birniwa Local Government Area of the state. He stated, “There is no vacancy in the governorship seat come 2027.”
Governor Malam Umar Namadi, currently serving his first term after being elected in 2023, has been in office for less than two years.
The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, explained that the governor and other elected officials under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the National Assembly are complementing one another in delivering the dividends of democracy.
According to him, “The present Governor, Umar Namadi, is performing well in his first tenure. Therefore, there is no need for anyone to think of challenging him in the 2027 election.”
“Governor Namadi deserves a second term in 2027 because of his outstanding performance, which is positively impacting the socio-economic lives of the people through human and infrastructural projects in both rural and urban areas,” he said.

The senator’s remarks carry significant implications for the state’s political landscape, suggesting a united front behind Governor Namadi’s leadership.
As a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Malam Madori’s endorsement carries weight. His call for fellow politicians to support the governor’s re-election bid may influence the party’s nomination process.
Senator Abdulhamid also stated that he has made meaningful contributions within a short time representing Jigawa North East in the Red Chamber.
He added, “In just two years of my representation, I have initiated a total of 63 different projects across the eight local government areas in my constituency. These include the provision of utility vehicles for security, solar-powered street lights, and water stations.”
“I have also implemented several empowerment programmes, with youth and women as major beneficiaries. I have secured federal employment opportunities, especially in security agencies, among other initiatives,” he noted.
Senator Abdulhamid pledged to continue delivering the dividends of democracy across his constituency.
