Do you want to study in Canada or relocate there? The Canada visa rules have been modified to accommodate job seekers, students, foreign workers, and entrepreneurs. This is a major shift in the country’s immigration system and must be abided by.

Contents
  • No more start-up visas
  • No Canadian Experience Requirement
  • Fast Entry
  • Rural Renewal Stream
  • Students Study Permit

Below are the changes to Canada visa rules you should know:

No more start-up visas

As an international entrepreneur aiming to migrate to Canada, the country is no longer accepting Start-Up Visa Programme applications for permanent residence. But if you already have a commitment certificate from a designated organisation, you can apply till June 2026. Under this programme, work permits are no longer available except for existing holders.

No Canadian Experience Requirement

You no longer need to present your Canadian Experience under the Ontario Employment Standard Act. This applies to those who do not have any work experience in Canada. It is a way to remove barriers encountered by foreigners and other international professionals. This change came into effect on 1st January 2026.

Fast Entry

Before, in Ontario, you would have to wait for several months for authorisation to work in Ontario, but with the introduction of the “As of Right” framework, professionals can start working within 10 business days if their credentials have gone through relevant regulatory authority. This applies to health care workers, engineers, electricians, and architects.

Rural Renewal Stream

Another Canada visa rule for foreign workers who want to settle down in Alberta is that rural communities can endorse you for local job offers. This is an advantage because you can also be nominated for permanent residence.

Students Study Permit

The student study permit under the Canada visa rule exempts international students who enroll in a public institution to pursue master’s or doctoral programmes from presenting a Territorial Attestation Letter or a Provincial Attestation Letter.

This letter was initially introduced to regulate and limit the study permit applications. In addition, the cost of studying has been reduced, and the process to study in Canada or pursue your dreams is more accessible and simpler for international students.
