As the journey of another year begins, Nigerians, especially youths, have been urged to play an active role in the process of positive change needed to reshape the country.
The call was made by the President of a faith-based NGO, United Christian Youths Progressive Forum (UCYPF), Joniga Edward, in his New Year message during an interview with pressmen at Bishara Baptist Church, Bauchi.
Joniga Edward started by congratulating Christians for having a successful Christmas celebration and the society for witnessing the first day of the year 2025.
He therefore called on everyone to be part of the process of change that the society is in need of, stressing that without such, the change will not take place.
According to him, “The times are hard, and things are increasingly difficult; all hands must be on deck to contribute and make the desired society. That is the only sure way to get out of the present pitiable situation.”
He further stressed, “Life is a circle of contributions. I contribute; you contribute. We all have to contribute. Whatever you are enjoying today is someone else’s contribution. Whatever you are lacking today is because someone who was supposed to contribute didn’t.”
Joniga Edward added, “Every person on earth is here to contribute to making the world a better place. Instead of complaining, contribute. Instead of destructive criticism, contribute.”
The UCYPF President opined that, “When we do this, society would be a better place to live. We will all be happy to interact with each other and savour a peaceful atmosphere.”
He assured that the NGO will continue to be engaged in Christian youth’s mobilisation for a better society because, according to him, “We are expected, as youths, to be role models who will take up leadership positions in the near future.”
