A governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, Chief David Sabo Kente (DSK), on Saturday said the APC in the state was not after the zoning system as being aspired by other political parties in the state.
Chief Kente made this known in Jalingo during his official declaration to contest for the governorship position in Taraba.
According to him, the zoning system was not part of the Taraba State APC chapter’s arrangement to nominate who will fly the party’s flag in the 2023 election.
He said the party was working toward producing the best candidate that would rescue the state and the people from the current devastating situation that is almost sinking the future of the state.
Kente noted that his decision to contest for the position came when stakeholders of the party from the northern part of the state who ideally are supposed to have the governorship position if zoning was to be considered, went to the southern part of the state to campaign for a credible choice that would rescue Taraba from the current mess and transform the state to be among contending states in Nigeria.
“I was a supporter of power shift to the northern part of Taraba since my brother from the south is almost finishing his eight years as governor.

“My decision to contest again, came when stakeholders of our party from the north went to campaign for the best choice that would rescue the state from the current devastating situation without minding which zone the person is from.
“The state chapter of our party has taken the decision to wave zoning and produce the best candidate that would rescue Taraba and the people and I believe, I am credible enough to deliver as been desired,” Chief Kente expressed.
Kente who is a member of the North-East Development Commission disclosed at the event that he has already outlined a working program that he said would bring transformation to Taraba.
