The party described Paseda who contested on the platform of the party in 2015 and came fourth, as the most experienced and credible candidate out of the 39 jostling for the position,hence its resolved to support his aspiration.
This was disclosed by the State chairman of the party, Aminat Olatunbosun, at a news conference over the weekend that the manifesto of the SDP governorship candidate was in line with that of the party while promising that the party would contest in the state House of Assembly elections.

She maintained that the party had not collapsed its structure into that of SDP, assuring of its indivisibility despite supporting the candidature of Paseda.
“We, members of UPN in Ogun state hereby, adopt the SDP governorship candidate as our candidate for the governorship election in the state. Let it be on record that we have not collapse our structure or decamp to the SDP. UPN remains intact in the state.
“The decision to participate in the state House of is to allow us focus and channel our machineries to occupy the state Assembly in order to bring governance to the doorstep of the downtrodden in the state through robust legislature,” she added.
The chairman urged other political parties to support and promote Paseda in his ambition of administering the state for “greater Ogun” beyond 2019.
