THE Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), has visited the National Secretarial of the Mega Party recently floated under the umbrella of “Action Democratic Party” in Abuja for the verification of all the documents submitted to it for eventual registration as a political Party as required by law ahead of the 2019 General elections.
Tribune Online gathered that the INEC team was led to ADP’s proposed National Secretariat of the located in the Asokoro District of Abuja by the Director in charge of Election and Party Monitoring, EPM, of the Commission, Alhaji Bala I. Shittu.
The Team on arrival at the proposed Party’s National Secretariat last week Wednesday was said to have been received by its protem executives led by its National Chairman, Engr Yabagi Y Sani who conducted the round.
Speaking on the visit of the INEC team, yesterday in Abuja, Sani expressed total confidence that the Association would scale through the hurdle registration of the Commission having met all its requirements including interim structures in all the 236 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Abuja.
Sani said that the INEC Team came around in furtherance of the recent submission of the Association’s registration documents to it for verification for eventual registration as a full-fledged Political Party in the Country.
According to Sani, “I wish to commend INEC for its quick responses and actions since the beginning of the whole exercise. I mean since we submitted our documents for registration to the Commission up to the time of coming to verify our claims.”
“Let me use this opportunity to invite all lovers of democracy to join us in this historic moment and arduous task of rebuilding Nigeria, our focus remains the ideas and dreams of our founding fathers and building a Nation where justice, equity and fairness reign supreme”.
This came just as the late Chuba Okadigbo Political Group, the Rainbow Organization formally joined the Mega Party,ADP, nationwide.
Dr. Okadigbo who was a former President of Senate formed the Group and used it for his Presidential Campaign in 2003. Okadigbo who later became the Running mate of President Muhammad Buhari in 2003 Presidential election.
Dr. James Okoroka who was a Special Assistant to Okadigbo and currently the Protem National Secretary of the ADP told news men in Abuja that the Okadigbo Group took the decision after a crucial meeting in Abuja on the way forward ahead of the 2019 General Elections.
According to Okoroma, “all the states structures of the Group in the 774 Local Government Councils have been directed to join the Mega Party and harmonize with the existing structures of the Party”.
Also speaking in the same vein, another member of the Group from Lagos State, Hon Kayode Jacobs disclosed that the Okadigbo Group resolved to join the ADP, as the ideological philosophy of the Party was similar to that of the late Okadigbo who was the Founder of the Group.
