The partnership was sealed on Friday in Lafia during a courtesy call paid on the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Kura by members of NAPPMED and the state Officer of PCN, Pharm Okpalaeke Nwora.
Speaking during the event, Kura expressed joy over the visit and said that the tripartite collaboration was long overdue to rid the state of unlicenced drug dealers who are prone to distributing and selling fake and substandard drugs in the state.
“This arrangement is long overdue and I am very happy we will be working closely together. As far as I am concerned, the police need you just as you also need the police. So, lets work together to make our society safer,” he said.
Kura added that to achieve success in the goal of ridding the state of unlicensed drug dealers, the police, PCN and NAPPMED must engage in constant intelligence sharing on activities of the unlicensed dealers so as to bring them to justice.
Speaking earlier, Mr Vincent Mamah, Nasarawa State President of NAPPMED explained that their visit to the state police command headquarters was to felicitate with Kura on his appointment as the new CP in the state and seek new ways of fighting unlicensed drug dealers in the state.
He then appealed for a stronger collaboration with the police to rid the state of unlicenced drug dealers and assured that the association would ensure that registered members of the association in the state conform with the law.
Also speaking, Nwora, Nasarawa State Officer of PCN vowed to step up efforts in the reduction of illegal medicine vendors and unregistered drug dealers in the state and ensure the improvement in the quality of drugs being dispensed to people across the state.
