Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi Danmodi said his government disbursed over N439 million to 7550 as palliative to people in the state.
The governor made the disclosure in an interaction with journalists as part of his 100 days in office, said “though 100 days is not enough to measure an achievement of administration, but still we much to say with the little period in office.”
Danmodi explained that on the government’s concern about the hardship by the people as a result of fuel subsidy removal the executive council in the state has approved and disbursement of N50 million to women and N75 million to youths.
He noted that the council also approved the selections of 1,500 small-scale businesses and was supportive.
“These 1500 will be benefited with N100,000 each which would a total sum of N150 million.”
He maintained that “the state executive council approved empowerment cash support to 1000 women to improve their trade and businesses.”
He said under the empowerment programme each woman received N50,000. “We applied them to male youth who are 1500 and enjoyed the same amount of N50,000 each.”
The governor stated further that “also the state executive council approved the sum of N164 million for the payment of registration fees for 3,050 state’s indigenes in four universities in our catchment area.
“What we did was, we contacted the universities and requested the list of the indigenes of the state who got admission and not paid the registration. The universities provided the government with the list of the candidates who got admissions and we screened them and paid the fee in full directly to the university.”
Danmodi disclosed further that the government embarked on the rehabilitation of seven major skills acquisition centers across the state, “when it is completed I will embark on massive training of youth and provide with takes up grand to be self-employed”.
He noted, “all this is in line with our campaign promises and parts of the implementation of our 12-points agenda we presented to the people of the state and voted us based on that.”
The governor expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their support and understanding of his administration.
