Two hundred and forty-one Nigerian voluntary returnees on Tuesday, arrived the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport(MMA),Lagos, on board a Libyan Airlines A333 –200, with registration number SA –LAR.
Speaking with journalists at the Lagos Airport, the Head of Lagos office and International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Dr Nahashon Thuo, said that 241 voluntary returnees, were brought back from Libya on their own volition.
According to him, of the 241 returnees, 174 are males, 67 women with six children.
Speaking on why they were brought back to Nigeria, the IOM representative in Lagos, said that some of them, while trying to cross to Europe failed but were arrested by the Libyan immigration while others committed immigration offences.
He further said that they were brought by IOM when they signaled their interest to return home.
