Piqued by the recent hostilities in his Chiefdom between the Fulani and Atyap, the paramount ruler, Agwaatyap, Sir Dominic Gambo Yahaya has called for a ceasefire and plead with the warring parties to forgive each other.
He said his palace is open to receiving and addressing all manner of complaints especially practical suggestions on how to end the carnage.
In a statement issued by the Monarch, on Tuesday, which he personally signed and made available to the Tribune Online recalled that in the past two weeks, several villages have suffered series of attacks in his Chiefdom.
He noted that these attacks led to the loss of many lives and properties in his Chiefdom with many of the people languishing in Internally Displaced Camps(IDPs).
“This is most unfortunate and very painful to me despite our collective sacrifices and peace Initiative I personally brokered.”
However, the statement commended the Atyap Chiefdom Peace and Security Partnership Committee, Atyap Chiefdom Council members and elders, military, paramilitary agencies, District Heads, Village Heads and the youth for toeing the part of peace and working tirelessly to ensure that the situation did not get worse.
The Monarch then urged the aforementioned to sustain the peace efforts in his domain.
Also, while congratulating the Muslim Ummah in his Chiefdom, for witnessing yet another Eid El Kabir festival, the traditional ruler, called on his subjects that in the spirit of the celebration to restrain from hostilities, remain calm in order to allow peace to reign.
He also called on all the tiers of government, particularly the Kaduna State Government to strengthen the security apparatus in his Chiefdom and support the displaced people to rehabilitate their burnt houses and other losses.
